I am currently writing a chapter on Polemic in Greek Art and Architecture for the forthcoming Acta Classica Supplementa series special edition on Polemic in Greek Antiquity, edited by John Hilton and Tom Stevenson. My chapter will look at how polemic (the stated disapproval or disagreement with previously expressed views, facts and ideas most often associated with the writer of Greek historiography) functioned within Greek art and architecture, its particular dynamics and grammar, and how the language of polemic in art and architecture could work in conjunction with polemic found in historiographical writings.
